Melbourne, which provides water service to the area affected, said results should be announced Wednesday. Two days of testing are required by the state before the boil advisory can be lifted, officials said.

Indian Harbour Beach City Manager Mark Ryan said some callers to the city were concerned about not being notified about the boil notice. Melbourne made automated calls to customers with phone numbers in its database and Brevard County Emergency Management sent out text messages. Customers who weren't notified might not have their cell phone numbers or unregistered phone numbers filed with the city, Ryan said. He encouraged utility customers to update their phone numbers with the city if they want notification calls in the future.

Ryan also complimented Melbourne utilities for its response Sunday to close the break and restore water service.

Satellite Beach City Manager Courtney Barker said her residents have expressed frustation not just by Sunday's water main break, but other situations that prompted boil water advisories in recent years. Barker said water line work is being performed throughout Melbourne's system, but older lines that haven't been replaced are causing issues.
